NeuroAffective Touch^® is a somatic approach that integrates relational and psychodynamic psychotherapy with the therapeutic use of touch and somatic practices. The NeuroAffective Touch training builds a vital bridge between our verbal and nonverbal selves to address the key elements of emotional attachment trauma, repair, and developmental deficits and opens the way for post-trauma growth. Our approach transcends the limitations of talk therapy for healing core relational wounds.

The training welcomes all professional practitioners who wish to integrate body and mind to resolve emotional trauma and relational deficits. We invite and include psychotherapists, psychologists, social workers, pre-licensed interns, and students; certified bodyworkers, massage, and body-centered practitioners; addiction counselors; nurses, acupuncturists, allopathic, naturopathic, and holistic doctors; movement and yoga practitioners; and coaches.

Online Modules 1, 2, and 3 cover the foundational theory and online techniques students need to connect to their clients’ and their own body-mind. We explore self-directed touch, how to mirror touch positions, and connect to the power of somatic resonance to reach out via virtual touch. We now know that, beyond working in person, touch intentions have a reach that defies time and space.
- Each module consists of 3 days of live-streamed lectures, demos, discussions, and breakout practice.
- These modules are offered via Zoom from Los Angeles on Pacific Time.
- We offer an adjusted teaching schedule for European participants (see below).

In-Person Module 4 is a 5-day Touch Immersion during which we practice the touch protocols for the theory learned in the online Modules 1, 2, and 3. This Touch Immersion fully anchors the healing power of the hands-on experience.

✅ Lectures and Practices – Online

- The functional unity of the body-mind anatomy, physiology, psychology, and emotional-relational experiences.
- Touch skills. The language of touch, the three sensory touch systems, working with the sympathetic, parasympathetic, interoceptive, and neuroceptive systems.
- Self-directed touch. Because therapists increasingly work online, the hybrid training has an enhanced focus on self-directed touch protocols and self-care guidance.
- Personal somatic practice. We support you in establishing a personal Somatic Contemplation^® practice by providing an in-depth interoceptive and proprioceptive experience of your own body that helps you teach your clients how to work with their bodies.
- Demonstration sessions, live or recorded, with real-time commentary.
- Breakout practices and Q&A.

✅ Online Exchange Practice Sessions following Modules 1, 2, and 3

3 hours each

- Online exchange practice sessions. Fifty minutes + 10-minute debrief following Modules 1, 2, and 3, for a total of three exchange practice sessions. Sessions are held at a time of your choice, focusing on the material covered in the previous Module. You can choose your practice partner, or our staff will pair you with a practice partner compatible with your time zone. - Exchange session reflection notes. One page ― 500 words ― on your experience as the practicer and receiver. Questions arising from your exchange sessions can be brought to the Cohort Case Consultations.

✅ Cohort Case Consultations following Modules 1, 2, and 3

2½ hours each • Sat 10:00 am―12:30 pm Pacific

- To clinically anchor theory and practice, a Cohort Case Consultation is held by Dr. Lapierre following Modules 1, 2, and 3.
- These consultations are included in your tuition. Participants will automatically receive the Zoom link.
- You must attend these three Cohort Case Consultations to receive your Certificate of Completion. If you miss a Cohort Case Consult, it can be made up by attending an Individual and Small Group Consultation for a fee.

- Hands-on protocols for the theory and clinical material learned in Modules 1, 2, and 3.
- The in-person Touch Immersion fully anchors the healing power of the touch experience.

✅ European Adjusted Schedule

The training times are adapted for European participants. Since there is a 9-hour time difference, European participants attend the USA morning sessions online live during their afternoon. The USA afternoon lectures are recorded and viewed the following morning under the guidance of our London faculty, Sue Bell. While lectures are recorded, all somatic contemplations and practice exercises are conducted live in real time. Dr. LaPierre is available for discussion and questions at the end of each European session.

To recap: You attend the live online USA morning hours in the evening, British Time, and the next morning, complete the remaining 3-1/2 hours of training with our European faculty, Sue Bell. This repeats daily.

The in-person Module 4 of the USA hybrid training must be attended in the USA. This module does not interface with our London training, a stand-alone separate training.

✅ Post Training

We offer ongoing Practicums and Individual and Small Group Consultations for graduates and current students who wish to further their expertise beyond the Foundation Training and qualify for the NeuroAffective Touch Practitioner Certification. Practicums may be attended live or recorded. For confidentiality reasons, Consultation recordings are not available.

Our learning community Forum is available to students and graduates who want to stay connected. The Forum supports those who wish to develop, share, and discuss the complex nature of integrating the therapeutic use of touch and psychotherapy. It includes special topics with moderators where practitioners with specific expertise can continue to share, grow, and refine their somatic skills.

Once we have received both your tuition payment and student application, we will review the application. We may request a short conversation with you to ensure the training is a good fit; if we feel it is not a good fit, we will provide you with a full refund.
