Individual, Small Group, and Mentored Consultations
If you are integrating somatic, touch-based techniques in your psychotherapy practice or broadening your scope of practice to include a psychological dimension to your body-centered skills, our consults offer ongoing support.
Consults are open to all students and graduates. Please get in touch with the approved consult provider listed below for their specialties and available openings.
There are three consultation options:
- Individual and Small-Group Consults
These consults help you find answers, guidance, and resources for your client concerns. They aim to assess and expand your options for what could benefit a problematic client or support the ongoing deepening of your work. Consults are not intended to be psychotherapy but can address your transference issues and the personal challenges clients often present.
Each consult provider has unique specialties and a wealth of experience, giving you options to work with mentors who understand your particular professional needs. You may want a one-on-one consult for a specific case or join a consult group. Groups are limited to a maximum of six participants and can be ongoing or time-limited.
- Mentored Hands-On Consults
Mentored hands-on consults are for practitioners who want to deepen their hands-on skills by practicing NATouch skills with a consult provider’s guidance.

-
- A double mentoring consult involves two NATouch students or graduates exchanging sessions in two separate 1-hour practice exchanges or a one-time 2-hour exchange in the presence of a consulting provider who gives them feedback as they work. The double-mentored exchange counts as one consultation session for each participant.
- A single hands-on mentoring session can be done with a student, graduate, non-student, or client; it does not involve an exchange and counts as an individual consultation for the practitioner.

Mentored hands-on consults aim to help you achieve your somatic goals, introduce you to new ways of thinking, challenge limiting assumptions, and share valuable therapeutic tools. For those who have not received training in trauma resolution, the mentored sessions can provide foundational trauma skills and tools for stabilization.

Los Angeles, CACMP, SEP, CATC
I have worked in stress, pain management, addiction, and self-regulation for over 30 years. I am a California State Certified Addiction Counselor, Somatic Experiencing Practitioner, and bodyworker. I trained in many bodywork styles, starting with my first love, Esalen Massage, followed by craniosacral therapy and the osteopathic approach of Ortho-Bionomy. I am an experienced movement and yoga instructor. My addiction counseling internship focused on grief processing, trauma resiliency, mindfulness, and meditation in a nonprofit residential recovery center and outpatient treatment facility.
I believe life is a course of study, and the body is its textbook. Life’s challenges, traumas, and twists and turns are part of the learning journey. My life experience and studying Bodynamics, NARM, and Kathy Kain and Steve Terrell’s touch training have deepened my understanding of developmental trauma. NeuroAffective Touch has brought it all together.
I use NeuroAffective Touch, Somatic Experiencing, movement, and body-centered approaches to work with attachment and developmental trauma. In my work with clients, I find the road to healing leads back to each individual’s unique blueprint. I offer missing connections that support emotional, physical, and psychological stability and integration using a comprehensive menu of somatic interventions.
My consultations will focus on integrating NATouch, Somatic Experiencing, and body-centered approaches.

Kristi Foster
Santa Monica, CAPh.D., Marriage and Family Therapist (MFT), SEP
I started working with bodies as a yoga teacher, massage therapist, and doula 30+ years ago. This led me to complete a Ph.D. in clinical psychology with a specialization in somatics under Aline’s mentorship. I cut my teeth as a therapist with Somatic Experiencing and Diana Fosha’s AEDP, a relational, attachment-based healing process of deepening client affect. I later studied with Kathy Kain and Steve Terrell.
Somatic work is my core modality. I specialize in working with shock and developmental trauma and have worked closely with birthing and postpartum mothers and with pre- and perinatal psychology teaching communities since 1996. I have assisted in SE trainings for 15 years and have been with the NeuroAffective Touch Institute since 2017, where I lead Integration Groups for students learning the work.
As a consultant, my focus is twofold. First, I try to understand the underlying, elemental processes that drive a client’s challenges to help practitioners break down their interventions into baby steps that speak to the innate, relational, body-based healing process. Second, I focus on helping the practitioner find motivational ways to involve the client’s left brain in the process.

Samantha Persoff
Los Angeles, CABachelor’s of Fine Arts (BFA), Master’s of Science in Special Education (MSEd), Masters of Social Work (MSW), Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Aline LaPierre’s NeuroAffective Touch® (NATouch), Somatic Experiencing® Practitioner (SEP), Licensed Special Education Teacher, Licensed Art Educator, Trained in Kathy Kain’s Touch Skills Training (TST), Stephen Terrell and Kathy Kain’s Somatic Resilience and Regulation (SRR), Psychodrama, Improvisational Dance Facilitation, Stephen Porges’ Safe and Sound Protocol (SSP).
I have several areas of expertise and specialization: working with adults, couples, families, and young children; utilizing NeuroAffective Touch, Somatic Experiencing, Gestalt, and psychodynamic modalities, including techniques from the positive behavioral supports model and art and play therapy; exploring the origin of emotional or behavioral difficulties and developing a deeper understanding of relational communication; promoting healing and growth. When working with children, I use a whole person, whole family approach, which includes coaching and discussion sessions with parents, sessions with the child, and occasionally entire family meetings.
My clinical skills and focus include working with anxiety, depression, behavior challenges, neurodiversity, sexual trauma, and sex positivity. I work to support both the child and the growing adult within each person regardless of age (my clients range from 5 to 75); I integrate NeuroAffective Touch as well as many of the above practices together with talk, play, art, movement, and dance to create a whole-person healing approach.
In my development as a therapist, I have been driven by two quintessential queries: a) How can I discover the most effective, accessible, and powerful ways to restore the essence of health and goodness in my clients, many of them severely traumatized and, b) How can we access our body’s intelligence to reconnect with our soul and the loss of our essential self caused by trauma? From what I have experienced in my personal work, discussions with other therapists, and sessions with clients, I am convinced that this is possible, and I am committed to this healing journey.
