United States / Europe 2023
Foundation Training
The training welcomes all professional practitioners who wish to integrate body and mind to resolve emotional trauma and relational deficits. We invite and include psychotherapists, psychologists, social workers, pre-licensed interns and students; certified bodyworkers, massage, and body-centered practitioners; addiction counselors; nurses, acupuncturists, allopathic, naturopathic, and holistic doctors; movement and yoga practitioners; and coaches.
We offer a blended online/in-person training. We cover the foundational theory online in modules 1,2,3 and practice the touch protocols in our five-day in-person Module 4 Touch Immersion. Online, we support students to use self-directed touch with clients and connect with their own bodies, and invite the power of somatic resonance via virtual touch. We now know that, beyond working in person, touch intentions have a reach that defies time and space.
Europe Time Accommodation
Because of the 9 to 10-hour time difference between the USA and Europe, we have a special arrangement with our European NeuroAffective Touch team.
All USA morning lectures are attended by both USA and European students together. Since the USA lunch break is in the late evening for the European students, they sign off and reconvene the following morning under the guidance of our European team to complete the USA previous afternoon’s teaching, which was recorded. The European teaching team supervises this segment and answers questions live online. Dr. LaPierre attends part of the European segment for group discussion.
Overview of the Four-Module Blended Online/In-Person Training
-
- Modules 1, 2, and 3 each consist of 3 days of live-streamed lectures, demos, discussions, and breakout practice. These modules are offered via Zoom from Los Angeles on a Pacific Time schedule. You receive a Certificate of Online Attendance upon completing these three modules.
- Module 4 consists of a 5-day in-person Touch Immersion. USA students meet in Los Angeles. We plan an in-person Touch Immersion in Oslo, Norway as soon as enough students are registered to attend. Upon completing the 4th module, you receive a Foundation Training Graduate Certificate.
- Online dyad practice session following modules 1, 2, and 3.
- 2½-hour Cohort Case Consultations following modules 1, 2, and 3.
- Course materials. Video links to all teaching to review in your own time, a 200-page manual, and all lecture slides.
-
- Introductions and community building
- Touch and body-mind integration theory
-
- The functional unity of the body-mind anatomy, physiology, psychology, and emotional-relational experiences.
- Touch skills. The language of touch: touching the sympathetic, parasympathetic, proprioceptive, interoceptive, and neuroceptive systems.
- Self-directed touch. Because therapists are now giving more sessions online, the training brings an enhanced focus to self-directed touch protocols and self-care guidance.
- Personal somatic practice. We support you in establishing a personal somatic practice by providing Somatic Contemplations™ that give you an in-depth interoceptive and proprioceptive experience of your own body and help you teach your clients how to work with their body’s felt sense.
- Demonstration sessions, live or recorded, with real-time commentary.
- Breakout practices and Q&A.
- Please Note: If you cannot attend a module at the time of its delivery, please contact our student advisor at laura@neuroaffectivetouch.com.
- The functional unity of the body-mind anatomy, physiology, psychology, and emotional-relational experiences.
-
- Three dyad exchange practice sessions. Fifty minutes + 10-min debrief following Modules 1, 2, and 3, for a total of three exchange sessions. Sessions can be held online or in person at a time of your choice. The focus is on the material covered in the previous module. You can choose your practice partner, or our staff will pair you with a practice partner compatible with your time zone. If you have a dual relationship conflict with another attendee, please let our student advisor know at laura@neuroaffectivetouch.com.
- Reflection paper. One page ― 500 words ― reflection on your experience as the therapist (practicer) and client (receiver). Questions arising from your exchange sessions can be brought to the Cohort Case Consultations.
-
- To clinically anchor theory and practice, Cohort Case Consultations are held following Modules 1, 2, and 3.
- These are included in your tuition. Participants must register and will automatically receive the Zoom link with their registration receipt.
- You must attend these three Cohort Case Consultations to receive your Certificate of Attendance.
- For confidentiality reasons, Consultation recordings are not available.
-
- Hands-on protocols for the theory and clinical material learned in modules 1, 2, and 3.
- The in-person Touch Immersion fully anchors the healing power of the touch experience.
-
- Video links to all teaching to review in your own time
- Manual ― 200 pages
- Lecture slides

✅ Post Training
We offer ongoing Study Groups which may be attended live and are available recorded. We also offer online and in-person Individual and Small Group Consultations for graduates and current students who wish to further their expertise beyond the Foundation Training. These small group consults qualify for the NeuroAffective Touch Practitioner Certification. Current students are invited to attend.
We will soon launch the NeuroAffective Touch Forum where students and graduates can stay connected as a community. The Forum will include areas of specialization where practitioners with specific expertise can share, grow, and refine their somatic and touch skills.
